Friends, Volunteers, Vendors and Quilting Enthusiasts,
In 2009, an idea became a reality, the Shipshewana Quilt Festival was born. Since then, the festival became an annual June event in the small quaint town of Shipshewana, Indiana. It drew thousands of quilters and visitors from around the world, including internationally recognized guest speakers and some of the world’s best quilts. Many friendships were created, and memories made. We are PROUD of what this festival brought to town.
Very early the festival began to outgrow facilities in the community presenting logistical challenges to the event. This, as well as many other obstacles throughout the years, were able to be overcome. In addition to space and labor shortages, in 2020 something happened that fundamentally changed the way we think, travel, and gather. Thankfully, technology allowed us to find new ways to do the things we love and changed how we interact!
They say all good things must come to an end. Where to hold the event, planning, staffing, and so much more were taken into consideration in our decision to put the festival to rest. While we wish it were not the case, we believe it is the right thing to do.
The Shipshewana Quilt Festival may be over, but that does not mean we do not have other ideas and dreams in the works. We are working hard on other concepts to give you a new experience in the world of quilting and sewing. We will let you know as soon as details are completed.
THANK YOU for your continued support of our festival over the years and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon!
