The Evolution of Traditional Piecing Using Paper | Lecture
Come listen to mother and daughter, Judy & Judel share the foundation of the Niemeyer family pattern design company, Quiltworx. Hear Judy share the history of their company, and her vision of using paper to improve the accuracy and ease of traditional piecing. Judel will lead you through the evolution of the Certified Instructor & Shop Program, the creation of Quiltster, which has redefined how Quiltworx uses color, and share with you learning opportunities in the future like Quiltworx University, including the next University event, coming to Shipshewana in September 2019. The presentation will include a trunk show
of some of the company's signature designs, and also a candid conversation of the Niemeyer family, and how, over the last 20 years, they have realized Judy's big idea!

Enjoy Stacy West of Buttermilk Basin and her trunk show where she shares the versatility of her patterns, including showing the same design done in different mediums which creates endless options. She will also show you the potential of her patterns and just how easy it is to make other derivative projects from a pattern. Plus, you will see and learn first hand about working with wool and how to blend it into any of your sewing or handwork projects, adding dimension and texture for a fresh new look.

Made by Machine: A Brief History of the Sewing Machine & Quilt | Lecture
Explore the history of machine quilting in this informative lecture. Beginning with antique quilts and then progressing to the present popularity in machine quilting - learn how quilters used the sewing machine to quilt! After the power point presentation, Sue will show a selection of antique quilts and her own machine-quilted quilts. Sue will also take questions on machine quilting. Enjoy learning the important history that the sewing machine has played in our Quilt World!

Quilt Collaborations with Sue & Pat | Lecture
In this lecture, sisters Sue & Pat explain the unique way they collaborate on their
award-winning quilts. They will also share their history in quilting through slides of their collaborative quilts including, "The Beatles Quilt" - which won Best of Show at the 1998 AQS Show, and "The Space Quilt"- which won both the 2003 IQA Master Award for Machine Artistry and the 2004 AQS Machine Workmanship Award. Both quilts are now a part of the collection of the Museum of the American Quilters Society in Paducah,Kentucky. They will also share how they used the folk art style of the 1800’s as design inspiration for their original interpretations of these iconic award-winning quilt designs. Quilts will be available to share and time will be allowed for questions and answers.
